The above is Molokheyya. First you mix the rice with the greens on a plate and then squeeze the lemon over it and scoop it with bread. At least, that’s how we ate it yesterday, popping pickled veg along the way.
I received this picture yesterday on facebook: it’s homemade macdous, eggplants stuffed. I think typically walnuts oil and minced meat with tomato sauce.
But below was the weekend’s revelation: shanghlīsh (I think). Actually I’m unsure of the name. But it is beyond good. Take it in bread with a little tart cheese. It’s lush, rich, heaven. It reminds me of something. Investigation ongoing.
